The Stamford, CT victim and his girlfriend were at the Gun For Hire range on McBride Avenue when "the boyfriend put his gun under his chin and pull the trigger," a ranking law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity told Daily Voice.

The bullet apparently exited the victim's cheek, he said.

The range was closed and the man was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson after the 5 p.m. incident.

He was expected to survive.

The Passaic County Sheriff's Crime Scene Investigation Unit and detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office joined Woodland Park police at the scene.

Woodland Park police said they will release more information once the investigation is complete and the man's family is notified.

It wasn't the first such incident at the popular range. Two men shot and killed themselves at the range six weeks apart in 2016.
